2014 CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League-Men Final Four
22-23 March 2014-Ankara

President's Message

Selahattin Süleymanoğlu 1

Dear European Volleyball family,

2013 was an important year for Halkbank.

Our men’s Volleyball team finished the 2012/2013 season with three trophies. We started out by winning the Turkish Cup and then had the honour to add the CEV Cup trophy to our showcase. We then finished our national league sponsored by Acibadem in second place. This accounts for the most successful season so far for the Halkbank Volleyball family.

We then set out for the 2013/2014 season with high goals and hopes. We have strengthened our men’s squad. More importantly, we have invested in our young players thereby making sure that step by step they will make it to the senior team.

As we debuted in the CEV DenizBank Volleyball Champions League, we qualified to the Playoffs. And as you know we got the right to host the Final Four Tournament. We believe that with the support of the whole country our team stands a good chance to lift the trophy for the first time. Together with the ambition to win the trophy, we also want to make a success out of this Final Tour from an organisational point of view.

We are going to host a wide range of guests including CEV authorities as well as the fans of the participating teams. We will do our best to make them feel happy with their Turkish experience once they leave Ankara to return home.

Our Volleyball club also has a women’s team which we respect and we want to work for as professionally as we do with the men. The women’s team of Halkbank includes many home-grown young players and though they compose one of the youngest teams in our national league, they have been performing well so far. We would like to draw the attention of the European and Turkish sports community on this positive development too.

To achieve this progress we were always supported by the Halkbank community, so I would like to thank our Chairman Hasan Cebeci, the members of our Board of Directors and of our various Departments, all of our employees as well as the members of the club’s Board of Directors for their help and support.

I hope that all players participating in this tournament will stay injury-free and will compete in a spirit of fair play. Let friendship win in the end!

Wishing the best of luck to all participating teams, I remain,

Sincerely yours,

Selahattin Süleymanoglu

Club President
